Sporting Forced to Change Kit in Champions League Due to UEFA Kit Rules?
A very curious case of Kit Rules could be observed in the Champions League last night as Sporting took on Lille for their debut in the new competition format.
While Sporting's unusual home kit looked the same as always on first glance, keen observers noticed that one of three white hoops that are usually present on the front and back of the shirt was missing. We assume that this is due to UEFA's infamous kit rules, which state that if a shirt has three or ore colors, one (black in this case) must be "clearly dominant" - apparently the original three white stripes made the color too dominant in UEFA's eyes, which prompted Sporting and Nike to adjust.
In other Champions League news, several teams including PSV appear to have used an outdated version of the sleeve badge on match day one.
