Which Style Will Man City Get? Puma Authentic Kits Slim vs Regular Fit

When Manchester City announced the Puma kit deal, it was said that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola gave his input as designers worked out the look and feel of the new shirts, shorts and socks.

Puma is known for their very tight, close-fitting jerseys. However, if you are an expert for football kits, you might know that there is just not one Puma authentic kit style but two.

Most teams, including Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Marseille are using the tight Puma authentic kit, called Puma evoKNIT, while a few Puma teams such as Milan and Borussia Mönchengladbach are using the more relaxed, bigger fit kit style (at least for their home kits).

Of course, there are players who prefer a slim fit and other who prefer a regular fit. In example, Balotelli's Marseille Puma kit is not nearly as tight as the kits of some of his team mates. Arsenal's Sokratis and BVB's Wolf, however, are wearing very tight versions of the tight kits.

Puma's kits have been even tighter in the past - especially the ACTV kit released in 2014-15.

Guardiola said about the design process of the first-ever Puma Manchester City kit: “It’s in terms of weight and so on to manage the heat and the sweat - not so much the colours but the technical aspects.”

Puma chief executive Bjorn Gulden said that the input of the City management team covered several aspects: “Functional fabrics, compression, fit, materials - the coaches who played know everything because they played themselves and they are very careful over the requirements.

With Arsenal using the tight fit kit style, we expect that Manchester City will also use Puma's trademark slim evoKNIT kits - but only the launch in July 2019 will confirm it.
