Pep Guardiola Helped Design Puma Manchester City Kits + Puma Man City Kit Info & Launch Date Revealed
Manchester City and its sister clubs yesterday announced a ten-year, £650million deal, with Puma. Following on the announcement, the club and the brand both shared a bit of info about the design and release dates of the first-ever Puma Manchester City jerseys.
The Puma Manchester City kits have been already designed, quite logically. There are no full leaks of the kits yet, but we already revealed info about all of the kits.
Pep Guardiola & Coaching Team Interested In Technical Aspects Rather Than Colors
Manchester City manager gave his input as designers worked out the look and feel of the new shirts, shorts and socks. The Blues manager and his coaching team were all consulted when the designers worked on the new shirts, shorts and socks, which are expected to be launched on July 1.
And Guardiola has his own input, as revealed by Man City chief executive Ferran Soriano: “Pep and the coaches are interested in the technical aspects of the shirt and the training gear. They are very interested and their demands are very high.
“It’s in terms of weight and so on to manage the heat and the sweat - not so much the colours but the technical aspects.”
Puma chief executive Bjorn Gulden said that the input of the City management team covered several aspects: “Functional fabrics, compression, fit, materials - the coaches who played know everything because they played themselves and they are very careful over the requirements.
“I think Pep is one of those guys who is a perfectionist in what he does and you need to deliver him quality.”
“For all the football guys, including Pep, when we said it was Puma, he was very happy,” said Soriano. The first reaction was to remember Johan Cruyff and Pele, but specifically Cruyff. Puma means an authenticity related to football. The ones, like me, who are already old we understand that very well.”
Gulden met with Guardiola during his visit to Manchester to announce the deal: “If you’re a soccer fanatic and you talk to Pep then you get impressed and he’s so interesting to talk to in the development.
“The whole club from the technical staff to the marketing staff to the international people have been very interesting and we have learned a lot. I think they are a couple of years ahead of what we have seen before.”
Puma Manchester City 19-20 Kits To Be Launched In Early July
Neither Puma nor City revealed any details of the appearance of the new kits, but Gulden said: “Each shirt has its own history. We’ve worked with the club and every shirt should mean something. How the shirt is going to look is coming from the club.
“They have been designed - the designs for all the teams have been done in co-operation and I think the launch date is early July.
