Happy Birthday! Here's Gerard Pique's Full Boot History
Another high-profile player to celebrate his birthday today is FC Barcelona center back Gerard Pique, who's turned 30. Although he has become one of most loved players at Barcelona, Pique's professional career started off with Manchester United and also included a year on loan at Zaragoza.
Boots-wise meanwhile, Pique never departed from the brand with which it all started, Nike, and instead only switched between some of the Swoosh's offerings through the years.
Starting out at United, Pique was wearing Nike Air Zoom Total 90 III boots in the trademark red and white colorway. Despite making his first-team debut at the age of 18, Pique didn't really make the breakthrough at United, in part due to the immense presence of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at the center of defense.
As early as in October 2005, Pique made the jump to the Nike Tiempo, the boot silo he would go on to wear to this date. Pique went on loan to Zaragoza in 2006-07 before returning to United for a final season, during which he would make nine league and three Champions League appearances.
Joining Barcelona together with Pep Guardiola in 2008, Pique became a starter almost right away and even managed to defend the Champions League title he won with United the season before. He's also won the Euros (twice) and World Cup with Spain, as well as six league and four cup titles with Barcelona, one Premier League title with Manchester United and a combined four Champions League titles between both clubs.
