Throwback to 1899: Barça’s Founding Kit Featured White Shorts, Barcelona Returns to White Shorts 125 Years After
When FC Barcelona was established in 1899, the team’s original uniform featured a blue and garnet half-and-half shirt paired with white shorts. As part of their anniversary celebrations, the club chose to revive this historic look for the match against Las Palmas.
Nike has created bespoke white shorts for FC Barcelona. Indeed, the shorts are off-white, with blue and garnet insert to match the half-and-half kit.
White Shorts in Barça’s History
Though white shorts were replaced by blue and garnet in later years, they have made occasional returns throughout Barça’s history:
- 1950s: During the era of László Kubala, one of the club’s greatest stars.
- 1970s: Under the influence of Johan Cruyff, a revolutionary figure in Barcelona's history.
Barcelona Debuts 125th Anniversary Badge
