Al-Hilal 24-25 67-Year Anniversary Kit Released - Club Prohibited from Wearing Kit Due to Late Submission
Update - 19 October 2024: Al Hilal's plan to wear the special 67th-anniversary kit in Friday's league match was blocked by the league, as the kit was submitted too late for approval.
According to league regulations, clubs must provide samples of all kits for players and goalkeepers within a specified timeframe before the season starts. Al Hilal failed to meet this deadline, leading to the rejection of their anniversary kit.
The league's strict rules state that any kit not submitted and approved in time cannot be worn during official matches. Had Al Hilal proceeded with the unapproved anniversary kit, they faced the risk of being declared losers in the match and received a fine of 100,000 Riyals. To avoid such severe penalties, the club opted to wear its approved standard 24-25 home kit instead.
It is not the first time that the Saudi Pro League and its teams are unprofessional. In the 2024-2025 season, the league introduced a new font that all teams were required to use, despite some objections. The league ultimately threatened penalties for non-compliance, and so all teams are using the league-wide font now.
