Official: Four Brands Compete to Make Uruguay Kits
The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) announced on Friday, August 9th, that four major sportswear brands have submitted proposals to outfit the Uruguayan National Team for the upcoming cycle, which includes the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Adidas, Puma, Nike & Kelme Remains to Make Uruguay Kits for 2026 World Cup
As announced by the AUF on social media, Adidas, Puma, Nike, and Kelme are in the running to become the team's new technical partners in the coming years.
The contract with Puma ended in December 2023. The previous deal, brokered by Tenfield, included a clause allowing the company to match any proposals within six months of the partnership's end. The AUF's strategy of not immediately renewing with any brand has allowed them to negotiate directly with suppliers, potentially securing a more favorable deal.
Before the Nike partnership, the Celeste wore uniforms made by the AUF itself. During the pre-Olympic tournament, they used kits that honored the 1924 Paris Olympic gold medal. Later, in two friendlies, they wore jerseys supporting Women's Month, with backing from UNICEF.
In the coming weeks, the AUF is expected to officially announce which brand will outfit the Uruguayan National Team for the World Cup qualifiers and the 2026 World Cup.
