Nike to Move Football Kits Production From Thailand to Egypt

Global sportswear giant Nike is considering a significant shift in its manufacturing operations, with plans to relocate a substantial portion of its football kits production from Thailand to Egypt. This is reported by Barcelona shirt insider @memorabilia1899.

Nike Eyes Egypt as Production Hub, Shifts Away from Thailand for Football Kit Production

Thailand is considered the holy grail of football kit quality, producing the football kits of all major brands. Indeed, Chinese fakers often label their kits as Thai quality.

Over the past 10 years, Egypt has seen steady growth in production and exports of woven and knitted fabrics, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12 percent between 2011 and 2020. Egypt has also gained space in recent years when it comes to football kits, with Puma making many of their kits in Egypt.

In recent years, brands also relocated many of their football kit production to Vietnam and other Asian countries, mainly due to lower costs than in Thailand.

Nike's potential move to shift a significant portion of its production from Thailand to Egypt could have a direct impact on football fans across Europe. With Egypt geographically closer to the continent, there's a strong possibility that the delivery times for highly anticipated football kits could be significantly reduced.

Puma also moves large portions to Egypt

Puma is also reported to move large portions to Egypt instead of producing in Turkey.
