Uruguay Jokingly Add 5th Star To Logo, Poking Fun to Argentina

Uruguayan football are celebrating one of the country's biggest achievements in history, winning the Under-20 World Cup title for the first time in their history. Following the triumph against Italy, the Uruguay football Twitter account made some fun of the stars featured on their crest.

Uruguay Jokingly Add 5th Star to Crest After Under-20 World Cup Title

After winning the Under-20 World Cup final against Italy, Uruguay (by fun) decided to add a fifth star to their official crest, with the text "¡Que linda se ve esa quinta estrella!" (which translates to "How beautiful that fifth star looks").

Shortly after the Tweet was published, the Uruguay national team deleted it.

The fifth star was possibly a meme to both Italy and Argentina. Argentina just have three stars, while Uruguay have four stars. Their U20 World Cup final opponents, Italy, have four stars, like Uruguay.

There is actually a controversy surrounding Uruguay's possession of four stars despite only winning the World Cup twice. Two stars are there because of Uruguay's Olympics titles in 1924 and 1928. In 2021/2022, FIFA approved Uruguay's request to display four stars on their badge, allowing them to have it officially forever.

Do you think Argentina will be able to get their fourth star in one of the next World Cups to catch up with Uruguay? Let us know in the comments below.
