Toulouse FC Release Kit in Colors of City's Rugby Club As April Fool's Joke, Kit Could Become Reality After Success

Yesterday, on April 1, 2023, French football club Toulouse FC released a special jersey in tribute to their "friends" Stade Toulousain, the city's rugby team. Today, Toulouse FC revealed that the jersey was an April Fool's joke (or a “Poisson d'Avril !” (April Fish Day) as it is called in France), but the kit could become reality after its big success.

Stade Toulousain called the city to wear red

The special Toulouse April Fool's kit has a prehistory. Ahead of this weekend's European Rugby Champions Cup, Stade Toulousain called the entire "Pink City" (nickname of Toulouse) to wear "red". Toulouse FC took on this invitation.

Toulouse FC 2022-2023 Special April Fool's Jersey

The new Toulouse FC 22-23 fourth kit is "Red & Black", a true tribute to Stade Toulousainm, their colors, and their sport. Stade Toulousain's traditional colors are red and black.

Design-wise, the special red and black Toulouse FC 22-23 jersey is based on the away shirt design, on which several Toulouse monuments are featured.

After revealing that the kit was an April Fool's, they put a fish in place of the sponsor logo. April Fool's is known as April Fish Day in France.

3,100 Retweets and kit supplier Craft would be asked for production

The red and black Toulouse FC kit has been very popular with fans and now it could become a real kit. Toulouse tweeted that the kit could go into production if the tweet reached 3100 RTs. This number has already been surpassed, so we could see the kit becoming an official Toulouse FC 22-23 kit in the end.

Still. it remains to be seen if the Toulouse kit will actually be produced by Craft, if it will even be worn in a match, and if the final kit will have a fish or the regular sponsor logo (we think the regular sponsor is much more likely).
