White or Navy Shorts? Which England 2022 Home Kit Combo is Best?
England debuted their new World Cup home shirt Italy on Friday night, pairing it with navy shorts, while their u21 side opted for matching white shorts for their game against gli Azzurri.
Which England Home Kit Combo is Best?
We got our first look at many World Cup kits on the pitch over the weekend, and England's home shirt was among them. They paired it with navy shorts as they were put to the sword once again by Italy, Giacomo Raspadori curling a beauty past Nick Pope. This pairing created some harmony between the bottom half of the kit and the matching the darker section of the shoulder gradient.
The same weekend, we were also given a glimpse of the all-white look as the u21s took the field in this colour combo. This made the shoulder gradient more noticeable as the only major point of contrast in the whole ensemble.
Although in FIFA's ideal world the shorts and shirt would be the same colour, England have worn both combos at recent World Cups and will likely continue to do so in Qatar this winter. The navy shorts provide some balance to the whole kit, whereas the white shorts lead to more attention being drawn to the divisive shoulder design and make the kit a bit top-heavy.
The white shorts-wearing England u21s managed to beat Italy 2-0, which is more that can be said for their more senior compatriots who opted for the navy trunks, so all-white may be the way to go if you're superstitious.
