All Serie A Teams Wear Same Font in 22-23 Champions League
If you watched Italian teams playing in the UEFA Champions League this season, you might have noticed that every team are having the same kit font.
The league-wide Serie A typeface was launched in 2020.
Serie A Teams Wear Serie A Font in 22-23 Champions League
As greatly visible in the images, all Serie A teams have the same typeface in the UEFA Champions League. The reason is simple - they use the league-wide Serie A typeface not only in their domestic league but also in international fixtures.
Are Serie A teams forced to wear the league-wide font internationally?
The only custom element for each team is the crest - it sits on the bottom of each number.
We have no info if Serie A force their teams to wear the league-wide typeface also in UEFA competitions or if they wear them voluntarily internationally. At least, this stands in stark contrast to (all?) other European leagues with a league-wide typeface.
Most Premier League, La Liga, and Ligue 1 teams have different kit fonts than in the league
For example, most La Liga teams wear custom typefaces in UEFA competitions, just as Premier League and Ligue 1 teams do.
AS Roma also used the league-wide typeface in the UEFA Europa League.
La Liga teams are allowed to wear the La Liga typeface internationally - Villarreal and Real Sociedad use the La Liga typeface in 22-23 UEFA competitions, similar to the Serie A teams.
