President Eto'o Ends Deal Unilaterally - Cameroon In Massive Kit Battle With Le Coq Sportif

Out of total surprise, the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) yesterday announced that they have decided to end their agreement with the company Le Coq Sportif. Now there is a big dispute with the French brand.

Le Coq Sportif say the decision is unilateral and brutal"

Le Coq Sportif had been sponsoring Cameroon since 2019. It was widely expected that their deal is valid until the 2022 World Cup.

Samuel Eto'o has been the president of the FECAFOOT since 11 December 2021.

Cameroon End Le Coq Sportif Kit Deal Unilaterally

As announced by the federation, Cameroon will stop wearing the kits of Le Coq Sportif after the TotalEnergies Morocco 2022 Women's Cup of Nations, in which the Cameroonian team is currently participating.

According to the press release, "the president of FECAFOOT intends to explore as soon as possible the avenues of a new and improved partnership with an Equipment Manufacturer who is respectful of their commitments and proud to associate their image with the label of the Cameroonian national football teams".

However, Le Coq Sportif were not informed and responded via an official press release, saying that the decision is "unilateral and brutal".

Cameroon have already validated the shirts by Le Coq Sportif for World Cup in Qatar

Le Coq Sportif also say that "FECAFOOT have validated the shirts developed by Le Coq Sportif for the next World Cup in Qatar, equipment that is approved by FIFA".

Le Coq Sportif wishes to express its great surprise and amazement at the national and international press release issued today by FECAFOOT announcing the termination of its collaboration with our brand at the end of the women's CAN TotalEngergie 2022.

This decision taken in a unilateral and brutal way comes at a time when Le Coq Sportif have delivered all its contractual commitments for more than three years by accompanying FECAFOOT since the Women's World Cup in 2019 and more recently the men's first team at the CAN 2022. In addition, FECAFOOT have validated the shirts developed by Le Coq Sportif for the next World Cup in Qatar, equipment that is approved by FIFA.

Le Coq Sportif have therefore contacted FECAFOOT and their President, Samuel Eto'o, in order to initiate the necessary discussions, in a constructive spirit and respectful of mutual commitments. We have no doubt that this exchange will allow the collaboration between FECAFOOT and Le Coq Sportif to continue serenely."
