Alternate History: Kappa Manchester United 1998 Home Jersey
What if Italian sportswear brand Kappa would have been Manchester United's kit supplier back in 1998? Football fan @maezcall, who creates football shirts in his free time, imagined how a Manchester United Kappa 1997-98 home shirt would have looked like.
As you might know, Manchester United's local rival Manchester City wore Kappa for two seasons (1997-99) during the late 90's which means that the supporters of the Red Devils probably would have been furious if both Manchester clubs had worn Kappa football kits at the same point of time. Previously, we already covered a potential Adidas Arsenal 2002 home shirt.
Kappa Manchester United 1998 Kit
This is the Manchester United 1998 concept jersey by Kappa.
Featuring a very clean base look, this Manchester United Kappa 1997-98 concept kit is all about the details: it features Kappa's trademark 'Omini' logo running down the sleeves within a band as well as black / white / red sleeve cuffs and polo collar. A sleek Red Devils logo at the front of the polo collar adds to the appearance.
Manchester United's classic sponsor Sharp (1992-2000), a manufacturer of electronic products, sits unobtrusive on the chest, while the Premier League's old sleeve patch graces both sleeves. A subtle 'Kappa' writing gets repeated within the hem and polo collar of the Kappa Manchester United 1997-1998 home jersey.
