13 German Clubs To Lose Their (Same) Kit Sponsor
The Corona virus crisis has already had some very big impacts in the world of football, with the EURO postponed to next summer and all competitions interrupted. Now reports from Germany suggest that not less than 13 professional German clubs could lose their main sponsor.
Betting Company Sunmaker "In Extremely Difficult Situation"
In Germany, Bundesliga club SC Paderborn, three 2. Bundesliga clubs SV Wehen, Sandhausen and VfL Osnabrück as well as seven third division clubs Preußen Münster, Würzburg, Mannheim, Zwickau, Halle, Hansa Rostock, Magdeburg and Jena, have the same main kit sponsor - "Sunmaker". And they all now have the same concern - they could lose their sponsor.
Sunmaker, the provider of sports betting is currently in an extremely difficult situation, according to newspaper Bild. No soccer games and no bets mean no turnover. The company with headquarters in Malta - so the industry says - could even be threatened with collapse.
Preußen Münster's finance director Bernd Niewöhner is also questioning whether Prussia will be wearing the Sunmaker logo in future (contract ends in June, extension was considered) - if this season continues at all.
