Update: Haaland has switched to the latest Nike Mercurial Vapor colorway from the Nike Future Lab pack. This is a clear indicator that he has a valid contract by Nike - no signs of a Puma partnership yet...

German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund this week completed the signing of young Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland. Following the announcement of the transfer, it has been revealed that Dortmund has pulled out all the stops in advance to convince the young Norwegian to a transfer.

Puma Offers Erling Haaland Sponsorship Deal - Currently Sponsored By Nike

According to reports, some BVB players, a special release close and BVB jersey supplier Puma did a lot of convincing. Bjorn Gulden, Norwegian CEO at Puma and former professional footballer, fought for a Haaland change to the black and yellow shirts. The 19-year-old is said to have been offered a lucrative sponsorship contract that could put additional millions in his pockets.

Erling Haaland is currently sponsored by Nike and wearing the brand's Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 football boots (white Nike "Nuovo White" - no logo visible?). Nike is reported to want to keep Haaland in their roster as well - the Puma offer likely means that Nike has to increase their deal in order to convince Haaland to stay with them. His boots seem to feature no Swoosh currently...

It would be nothing unusual for Puma to sign a player of Borussia Dortmund. Puma is shareholder of BVB and has already signed a few BVB players, including Marco Reus, Axel Witsel, Łukasz Piszczek and Marc Batra (plays no longer for the club but is still wearing Puma, was signed from Nike).
