The 1996 Major League Soccer season was the inaugural season of Major League Soccer. 10 teams competed in the 1996 MLS season - Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew, D.C. United, Dallas Burn, Kansas City Wiz, Los Angeles Galaxy, New England Revolution, New York/New Jersey MetroStars, San Jose Clash, Tampa Bay Mutiny.
Unlike today, the MLS 1996 soccer jerseys were not only made by one brand but by different brands, with Nike supplying the kits for half of the 10 teams . Adidas became the league-wide kit maker in 2005.
