Fan Designed Nike Chelsea Kit To Feature Outstanding Design Honoring Drogba & 2012 Champions League Triumph

Around six weeks ago, we reported that Nike will release a special Chelsea Shirtholder's edition fan shirt, designed with the help of fans who bought the Chelsea 2018-2019 third kit. Now the design process of the Nike Chelsea Fan Shirtholder's kit has reached the next step.

The design process for the Nike Chelsea Shirtholder's kit has already reached the final step from three steps in total, at least for fans who bought the jersey.

Phase 1 allowed fans to have their say on the general aesthetic of the kit (bold, classic etc.). Chelsea fans were split in opinion if they would like a classic or modern kit, so Nike decided to mix it up.

Phase 2 allowed fans to decide which of the three concepts Nike worked out would make it and to select if the shirt would have a V-neck, crew-neck or classic flip collar. There were three different concepts to choose from:

Concept 1 celebrates the fans and players writing the next chapter in Chelsea's history. Concept 2 is inspired by the iconic home grounds of Stamford Bridge. Concept 3 pays homage to the 2012 Miracle in Munich, when Chelsea lifted their first European club championship.

Phase 3 allows fans to vote on the final two pieces of the design: the colour pattern and the pride elements. The three pattern options all use match data from Chelsea's greatest victory: their 2012 European title. Treatments range from a bold look to a cleaner aesthetic. The pride elements will appear on the shirt's back and inside the collar, and will reference specific club details.

The signature of Didier Drogba or a Miracle of Munich design will either feature on the shirt's back and inside the collar.
