First Laceless Leather Umbro Boots - All-New Umbro Medusae 3 Elite 2019 Boots Released

In December 2018, Adidas will release their first-ever traditional laceless leather football boot, the Adidas Copa 19+. Now Double Diamond brand Umbro surprised fans by releasing their first laceless leather soccer boot, the next generation Umbro Medusae Elite III.

Umbro players including Portugal’s Pepe, Edison Flores of Peru and the US Women’s goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris will wear the all-new Umbro Medusae III football boot. It will be seen on pitch for the first time in this week’s internationals (8-16 October).

Umbro Medusae 3 Elite Launch Colorway - Black / White / Marine Green

This is the launch edition of the Umbro Medusae 3 football boot.

Umbro’s first ever laceless leather boot, the Umbro Medusae Elite III combines the touch and speed of the previous generations of the Medusae with an innovative one-piece k-leather upper. Umbro has stripped out the traditional lacing system, proving that "less is more".

Previous generation Umbro Medusae III Elite

In fact, the Umbro Medusae Elite III soccer shoe is an evolution of the previous generation, with all not needed elements removed. This is also stated in the press release:

"The Manchester-based design team spent two years perfecting the boot, speaking with professional players who asked for a lighter boot with an extended leather vamp for a better touch and feel for the ball. If an element didn’t add comfort, improve fit and feel or aid performance, then the design team simply took it out. The result is a sophisticated leather boot that’s laceless and light."

The outsole of the Umbro Medusae Elite III appears to be the same of the Umbro Velocita 4.

Umbro Medusae Elite III - Features

  • Umbro’s lightest ever leather boot, weighing just 170g
  • The laceless upper is one large piece of k-leather vamp designed to increase the strike area and smooth out a greater surface area of the foot. The seamless construction of the leather upper over the forefoot creates a comfortable feel without any uneven surfaces for the foot to rub against
  • An engineered knitted collar with TPU heat-welded support zones provides a responsive fit and enables easy foot entry, whilst maintaining stability and security in the heel area
  • Debossed flex grooves follow the stitch lines of the iconic Speciali. They provide flexibility, whilst maintaining a secure 'locked-down' fit
  • Additional padded zones in the collar and silicone grip pods in the heel provide extra security
  • The lightweight and rigid Pebax outsole features a unique combination of conical and specifically shaped studs to ensure maximum grip and traction for speed in all directions. The stud position and geometry have been designed based on player feedback and analysis of peak pressure points during movement
  • Price: 175 GB), 225 USD
  • Initial Release Date: (25 pairs / country): 18 October 2018, Full Release: Early 2019

The launch colorway of the Umbro Medusae Elite III is black, white and marine green. The cleat comes with the Double Diamond logo on the outstep, while all other parts of the cleat are rather kept clean.

The Umbro Medusae Elite III is initially limited to 24 pairs in each country as a nod to Umbro’s foundation in 1924. The Medusae 3 Elite is on sale from Friday 19th October for £175 (225 USD), with the general release coming in early 2019.
