Fans have been quick to create Photoshops of the iconic sponsor logo instead of the dreaded Wonga one, but everything is not as clear as some might like it to be. According to the report, Newcastle United approached the famous former sponsor about a return next season, but has been unable to agree a deal with brand owner Heineken.
This means that, as the current £9 million per annum deal with Wonga is up after the current season, Newcastle is still looking for a new shirt sponsor.
