Hamilton Wear France Kit in Tribute to Paris Attack Victims After Kit Clash
Scottish Premiership club Hamilton Academical wore France's 2015 Away Kit in their 1-1 Premiership draw against Aberdeen on Sunday as a tribute to the victims of the Paris Attacks due to a kit clash.
As the two clubs had a "genuine kit issue for this fixture", Hamilton came up with an out-of-the-box idea and made an approach to SPFL to see if they would approve Hamilton's idea to change their kit to France's kit as one off for this match. After approval as one off was given, Hamilton couldn't get their hands on 20 France Home Kits and therefore opted for France's all-white shirt. Thereafter the club added all missing applications and badges to France's kit (See the complete story in the picture below).
Hamilton's France 2015 Away Kit
This is the Hamilton edition of France's Away Shirt.
Boasting the design of France's Away Shirt, the special Hamilton edition of France's Jersey features the club's crest as well as the French and Scottish flag in the center of the jersey. Apart from that, the special Hamilton France 2015 Shirt comes with the regular home sponsor logos as well as the SPFL badge on the sleeves. Hamilton used the official numbers and font of the Scottish league.
White shorts with Hamilton's crest next to France's classical 1958-inspired crest and white socks round off the clean design of the tribute strip.
The Hamilton goalscorer Dougie Imrie said: "I only knew when I came into the dressing room and saw the strip. It was a great gesture from the club to show their support to Paris and the French people."
The tribute was especially poignant for Hamilton's French striker Christian Nade, whose 18-year-old sister hid under the table of a restaurant in Paris after gunmen opened fire in the neighboring cafe. Christian Nade was kept on the bench throughout the game after he looked emotional during the pre-match minute's silence.
Canning, whose assistant is Frenchman Guillaume Beuzelin, said: "I spoke to Christian through the week and he was fine. His sister was involved in it but mentally he felt fine. It just so happened that Christian didn't get on but his attitude through the week has been spot-on."
