Thomas Müller Trains in Blackout Next-Gen Adidas X 2016 Boots

The much-awaited Adidas X 2016 Boot is no longer a secret. FC Bayern München striker Thomas Müller has become the first player to wear a blackout prototype of the new Adidas X 16.1 Soccer Cleat, which features an all-new design.

Set to be released ahead of the Euro 2016 in France, the Adidas X 16.1 Football Boot is the second generation of the Adidas X 2015 Boots.

The Adidas X 2016 Boots introduce a totally new design of the Adidas X silo. The blackout Adidas X 16.1 Boots features a high-ankle boot design, which reminds us of the Adidas Primeknit 2.0 Boots and Nike's Dynamic Fit collar. The sock-like material wraps around the ankle for a sock-like fit.

The Adidas X 16.1 Football Boot features a tongue-less boot design for even more comfort, similar to the Nike Magista Obra and Nike Mercurial Superfly Boots.

Another remarkable element of the new Adidas X 16.1 Boots is the one-piece synthetic upper. The futuristic-looking material is expected to be extremely soft, thin and flexible, combined with Flywire-like strings in the midfoot area for more stability.

The sole plate of the Adidas X 2016 Boots features an external heel counter for more stability.

The stud configuration of the next-gen Adidas X 2016 Soccer Cleats returns to a more traditional design with four studs in the rear area and seven studs in the front area. It's quite similar to the popular sole plate of the Adidas F50 Adizero Boots and completely different than the sole plate used for the first-generation Adidas X Cleats.

The Adidas X 2016 Boot is made for players who create chaos on the pitch, set to be worn by Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez, Thomas Müller and Bastian Schweinsteiger from Summer 2016. It will be very interesting to see if other Adidas athletes will lace up in the Adidas X 2016 Prototype Cleats in the coming weeks.

Interestingly, the first prototype of the Adidas X 2016 Boots was already leaked in June 2015, featuring a similar design as the black-out Adidas X Thomas Müller Cleat.
