Italian Champions Badges Are the Best in World Football

  • Italian Champions Badges: Italian football champions wear unique, classically designed badges like the Scudetto and Coccarda, which are highlighted as the best-looking in world football, differing from the modern gold designs common elsewhere.
  • The Scudetto: The iconic 'scudetto,' a shield in Italian national flag colors, represents domestic supremacy for Serie A champions and has been sewn onto kits since 1924, seamlessly elevating any uniform it graces.
  • The Coccarda: The coccarda is a concentric tricolor circular badge worn by Coppa Italia winners since the late 1950s, and when combined with the scudetto for a domestic double, it produces some of football's most memorable shirts.

For a few decades, reigning champions have worn special badges on their kits. Most of them are usually gold, and feature modern designs. However, in Italy, things are different, and not in a bad way.

AS Roma 26-27 Away Kit Looks Incredible With Double Champions Badges

The AS Roma Femminile 26-27 away shirt provides the ultimate canvas to prove that Italian football badges are the best-looking in world football. Following their domestic double triumph, Roma Femminile earn the right to wear both the Italian Tricolore Scudetto shield and the round Coppa Italia Coccarda on their match shirts for the 26-27 campaign. It works perfectly with the centered logos.

Scudetto - Serie A Champions Badge

The iconic scudetto, meaning "little shield," represents the ultimate symbol of domestic supremacy. Bearing the green, white, and red of the Italian national flag, the badge was created in the 1920s and first worn by Genoa in 1924. Sewn directly onto the chest of the reigning Serie A champions for the entirety of the following season, the shield seamlessly elevates any kit it graces.

Coccarda - Serie A Champions Badge

Italy applies the same classic visual identity to its domestic cup competition with the coccarda. Worn by reigning Coppa Italia winners since the late 1950s, the concentric circular tricolor badge brings an equally refined aesthetic to the pitch. When a club manages to secure a domestic double, both the scudetto and the coccarda adorn the jersey together, producing some of the most memorable and sought-after shirts in football history.

Teams in Italy were used to wearing no club logos on their kits until the 1980s, only donning the Scudetto and/or Coccarda on the kit. You either gain your badge or keep your kit blank.

VfL Osnabrück 26-27 Special DFB-Pokal Kit Released - Worn Against Bayern Munich

German club VfL Osnabrück have unveiled a special kit for their DFB-Pokal first-round clash against FC Bayern Munich. Manufactured by Capelli Sport, the one-off jersey pays homage to one of the biggest cup upsets in German football history, when Osnabrück defeated Bayern 5-4 at the Olympiastadion in Munich on September 23, 1978.

The Osnabrück 26-27 DFB-Pokal special shirt closely mirrors the clean aesthetic worn during that historic 1978 triumph. Predominantly white, it features a bold retro polo collar and matching sleeve cuffs in Osnabrück's signature purple.

Completing the look, the special edition kit is paired with matching white shorts and socks accented by purple detailing. The kit will be worn exclusively during the home cup tie against Bayern Munich at the Bremer Brücke and is available through the club's official retail channels.

Hanoi FC Uses Same Adidas Template as Mercedes F1 Shirt

Vietnamese V.League 1 side Hanoi FC and Adidas have unveiled the first kits from their new partnership, with the design immediately sparking discussion over its unusual short Three Stripes layout across the shoulders.

The shirt uses a new Adidas template with short 3-Stripes on the shoulders and a classic crew neck, a design primarily seen on takedown jersey (fan version). The same template is also used by Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1, including the team's latest “Vanda Bloom” collection. The purple colourway closely matches Hanoi FC's traditional identity.

The shirt uses a mixed construction: the body features standard Adidas Climacool fabric, while the sleeves use Player-version material.

What do you think of adidas using the same template for Hanoi FC and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
