"UNRECOGNIZABLE" - Bayern Fans' Banner Response to Reported Champions League Kit "Ban"

  • Fan Protest: Bayern Munich fans displayed banners protesting the club not wearing its traditional red home kit in Champions League matches.
  • UEFA Regulations: UEFA's visibility requirements for player numbers are the reason Bayern can't wear their traditional kit, due to insufficient contrast.
  • Kit Identity Dispute: The protest is part of an ongoing dispute between fans and the club over maintaining Bayern's traditional red and white colors.

Bayern Munich supporters made their feelings clear during this week's Champions League match in Glasgow with a series of pointed banners addressing the ongoing kit controversy. Big thanks to @iMiaSanMia for covering this.

The displays targeted both the club not wearing its traditional red home kit in Champions League matches this season.

Two striking banners were unfurled in the away section. The first read "FCB AG's attitude is like its jerseys: unrecognizable," taking aim at the club's management. The second banner stated, "Even UEFA-mafia says: Red-White is the only option!" - a sardonic reference to UEFA's regulations that prevent Bayern from wearing their home kit due to insufficient contrast between the numbers and the red shirt.

The controversy stems from UEFA's visibility requirements for player numbers, which the current home kit fails to meet. At the same time, the issue could be resolved with a simple adjustment to the number coloring, but Bayern apparently does not like to do this.

This protest represents the latest chapter in an ongoing dispute over Bayern's kit identity. The supporters, particularly the ultras, have historically been protective of the club's traditional red and white colors, previously protesting against the inclusion of blue elements in past designs.
