Unbelievable Kit Clash in Saudi Pro League Forces Halftime Change

  • Kit Clash: Al Riyadh and Al Raed played a Saudi Pro League match with kits that were too similar in color, causing confusion.
  • Halftime Intervention: Officials forced Al Raed to change to a red kit at halftime due to the egregious kit clash.
  • Al Raed Victory: Despite the kit confusion, Al Raed won the match 3-1.

In a remarkable sight during last night's Saudi Professional League fixture, Al Riyadh and Al Raed participated in one of the most egregious kit clashes ever witnessed in professional football. Big thanks to our follower and Saudi Pro League expert @kaber_albaha for making us aware.

Saudi Pro League Teams Play in Too Similar Colors

The match, which ultimately ended in a 3-1 victory for Al Raed, began with an almost indistinguishable color palette on the pitch. Al Riyadh took to the field wearing their very light mint green third kit with subtle green accents – a colorway that, under stadium lighting, appeared nearly white at first glance. Their opponents, Al Raed, wore their white kit with little red trim. The result was a visual nightmare for players, officials, and spectators alike.

A look at the scoreboard seems to confirm why this happened - the light mint is green in the official Saudi Pro League data, but almost looks like white in real life.

Officials intervened at halftime, requiring a kit change for the second period, with Al Raed FC switching to red.

While Al Raed ultimately claimed the three points to strengthen their position, the talking point among Saudi Pro League followers remains the remarkable similarity between supposedly contrasting team colors that somehow passed pre-match inspection.
