Should Arsenal Amplify Its Anti-Knife Crime Kit Message?

Arsenal’s No More Red campaign has been a commendable step in addressing youth violence and knife crime in London. The all-white kits worn during four FA Cup matches in the past three years have sparked conversations, but is the impact as significant as it could be?

Arsenal's 2024-25 No More Red kit features an outlined Emirates logo and a red FA Cup sleeve badge.

What Arsenal Could Do to Amplify the Message

Currently, for us, the campaign, at least in part, misses its message. While the initiative raises awareness, the message is not communicated directly.

Footy Headlines believes that Arsenal could add a visible logo from an organization fighting knife crime, such as Lives No Knives, to its kits as a sponsor replacement. By adding a remarkable slogan to the kits, the message would be much clearer.

Lives Not Knives (LNK) is a youth-led charity based in Croydon, London, dedicated to preventing knife crime, serious youth violence, and anti-social behavior. Established in 2007, the organization works to provide young people with the education, skills, and opportunities they need to make positive life choices and avoid falling into cycles of violence.

Arsenal could also add the message of no knives on their classic home kit, instead of the Emirates logo.

Knife crime in London has not reduced since Arsenal started its campaign in 2021-22. Instead, knife crime almost reached an all-time high in 2023-24.
