Real Madrid to Ditch 'Santiago' From New Stadium Name

Real Madrid will decide to ditch 'Santiago' from the name of the stadium for commercial and marketing reasons. It will have a new, shorter name: "The Bernabéu", according to Marca.

The Bernabéu - New Real Madrid Stadium Name

Real Madrid's home stadium will have a new name: The Bernabeu. Real Madrid's board of directors believes that the new name will help the team make a bigger impact on the market and help the team win big sponsorship deals.

Inaugurated in December 1974, the stadium was renamed Santiago Bernabéu on 4 January 1955 after the great club president who led Real Madrid for more than 34 years. The Santiago Bernabéu has seen its fair share of ups and downs and the team's greatest moments.

The stadium is currently referred to as the Bernabéu on the club's website, and the tour of the stadium is called the Bernabéu Tour. Real Madrid have remained silent and have only made minor changes to their marketing and sales activities in relation to the stadium's renaming.

According to Marca, the shortening of the stadium's name is for commercial reasons, with the aim of creating a more modern image and attracting more sponsors.

The Madrid stadium currently offers eight different spaces for events. The stadium is available for events, conferences, weddings, parties, etc.
