Fans Protest: Paderborn Wears Green 24-25 Cannabis Special Kit
German team SC Paderborn wore a very unusual color in last Friday's 2. Bundesliga home match against Regensburg.
Paderborn Ultras Boycotted the Atmosphere Over Special Kit Promoting Medical Cannabis Education
Paderborn 24-25 Cannabis Education Special Kit
Instead of its usual blue or black, the SC Paderborn 24-25 special kit kit is green. Why? The jersey is part of a campaign promoting education on medical cannabis, backed by Paderborn's main sponsor, Four 20 Pharma, through their nationwide "Endlich" initiative.
The design of the green Paderborn 24-25 kit is nothing special. The club uses the basic Saller Melange teamwear kit, which retails at 15 Euro.
While the Ultras do not oppose medical cannabis education itself, they are upset about the club's decision to alter the team's traditional kit colors for a sponsor-driven initiative.
For the Ultras, the jersey is seen as a "central element of our identity," and they view this move as compromising the club's values for commercial reasons. In response, they announced that they would boycott their organized support for the match, withholding their usual vocal and visual backing in protest against the club’s actions.
