Internacional Wears "Muddy" Kits to Support Rio Grande do Sul

In light of the difficult times facing Rio Grande do Sul, Internacional took to the field wearing "muddy" shirts in its match against Belgrano. Thanks to Brazilian kit experts Mantos do Futebol for the initial report.

The 2024 Rio Grande do Sul floods were caused by heavy rains and storms that affected the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul and neighboring Uruguayan cities from April 29 to May 2024. The floods were the worst flooding in the country in over 80 years.

Several Brazilian teams are still unable to play at their home stadiums, including Internacional Porto Alegre.

The kits will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the state

After the game, the shirts will be signed by the players and auctioned off, with all proceeds going to support the state.

"Inter had to leave Rio Grande do Sul to play, but the reality of Rio Grande do Sul is in the minds and hearts of the whole club. And now it's also on our uniform. That's why Inter is taking the field today against Belgrano, in the Copa Sudamericana, with its uniform all muddy: so that Brazil doesn't forget the reality of the state and of these players who were forced to face the biggest environmental disaster in the country's history, which directly affected their lives and took away from them the possibility of training and playing in their stadium and in their city, next to their family, their friends and in front of their fans,’ Internacional said in a statement.

This uniform represents the struggle of a tireless, tough and hopeful people. And also the efforts of volunteers from all over the country, who have entered the waters, the mud and the lives of many cities with love and solidarity never seen before,’ the statement added."

This initiative not only raises awareness for the cause but also engages the community and fans in a collective effort to provide aid. What do you think of this action? Let us know in the comments below.
