This decision comes in response to comparisons between the design of the number 4 and Nazi symbolism (SS, created with two number 4), prompting widespread public outcry.

Our alteration involves extending the right-hand part of the number all the way to the top, a small but effective configuration.
All other jersey numbers may also undergo review, but we do not expect any changes
Indeed, our new number 4 is rather reminiscent of the letter Y. This modification aims to address concerns regarding the resemblance to the letter S, while maintaining the 3D 1990s design.
However, it seems very well possible that Adidas may implement further adjustments to the number 4. People might be claiming that it still shows an S when removing the extra element and that Adidas was lazy.
