Currently, Lamine Yamal wears the number 27 shirt. However, according to Catalunya Ràdio, as reported on their video podcast 'Barça Reserva', the club is discussing giving Lamine Yamal the number 10 due to his potential commercial value.
Ansu Fati is the most recent wearer of the number 10, currently on loan at Brighton. If he doesn't return, the number 10 will be free.
La Liga only allows first-team players to use numbers 1-25
Currently, the club's first team has three available shirt numbers: the '10', the '12', and the '24'. However, La Liga only allows first-team players to use numbers 1-25. Once Lamine Yamal is registered as a first-team player (he currently is registered as Barça Atlètic [FC Barcelona B] player), he has to switch numbers.
The number 10 is special because it has been worn by great players such as Messi, Ronaldinho, Riquelme and Rivaldo.
However, there are also concerns in the upper echelons of the club, as it is seen as a hasty decision to give a 16-year-old player who has yet to play in the first team the responsibility of this legendary number.
