Brighton Wear Special-Edition Rainbow Laces Pre-Match Shirt - Designed by 14-Year Old

On December 6, Brighton and Hove Albion played against Brentford in their designated Rainbow Laces fixture. To celebrate, the Foundation ran a competition asking local children to design a shirt for the occasion.

Hundreds of children entered the competition, with one girl’s design winning. Livs Cook, 14, from Bognor Regis, designed a shirt that was produced by Nike as a jersey for the players to wear during their pre-match warmup.

The Brighton Rainbow Laces jersey is white with the club's trademark blue stripes on the front as well as a color splash rainbow design at the top and another rainbow further down. The text 'Make Sport Everyone's Game' is written across the lower half of the shirt.

“I really wanted to see if I could incorporate the traditional Brighton blue and white striped shirt into my design,” Livs said. “I thought that the drips of rainbow colours would represent the merging of the rainbow laces with the Albion. I also added the writing as I wanted to emphasise the point that everyone is equal in sport.”
