Tottenham Launch Legacy Kit Numbers

Tottenham Hotspur have launched a Legacy Number initiative to pay tribute to every player who has ever represented the club in a senior competitive fixture.

Tottenham Hotspur Launches Legacy Number Initiative to Honour Every Player in Club's History

Starting from their next Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Friday, Spurs players will wear shirts with their own unique "legacy number" as a back neck detail. The initiative has seen every player in the club's history, since the first recorded senior competitive game in October 1894, assigned a number from 1 to 879. The first 11 numbers were assigned alphabetically to the players who made up the club's first starting XI 129 years ago.

The latest Legacy Number, 879, belongs to Alejo Veliz, who became the club's latest debutant in September.

Tottenham surely got inspired by the idea of England's national team, who introduced Legacy Numbers in November 2019.
