While the club and Adidas did not disclose any financial figures, the Adidas Newcastle United kit deal is reported to be a five-year deal. It is expected to be worth a minimum of £40 million per year. This amount is £10 million more than what Tottenham Hotspur receives from their deal with Nike.
Adidas and Newcastle United will officially start their partnership on 1 June 2024. Footy Headlines expect the first modern Newcastle United Adidas kit to be launched on that day - Saturday, 1 June 2024.
The Adidas x Newcastle United kit deal marks a reunion for the two brands after more than ten years since they last collaborated. Adidas previously supplied the Magpies' official kits and training wear between 1995 and 2010.
During Newcastle United's famous Entertainers era, the club and Adidas enjoyed a close relationship, with Kevin Keegan's title-challenging side wearing some of the most popular kits of the era. The brand's three stripes were also worn by the Magpies during several iconic UEFA Champions League matches, including a famous 3-2 victory over FC Barcelona featuring a Faustino Asprilla hat-trick in 1997, and in each season under the stewardship of the late Sir Bobby Robson.
This collaboration brings together two iconic names known for their history
Nick Craggs, Global Football General Manager at Adidas, said, "This collaboration brings together two iconic names known for their history, innovation, and commitment to excellence within football. We are excited to provide them with cutting-edge sportswear technology and look forward to creating many more unforgettable moments, inspiring fans and players alike."
Darren Eales, CEO of Newcastle United, said, "Our upcoming partnership with Adidas evokes memories of some of the most famous players, coaches and matches in the club's history so we are delighted we will be teaming up once again as we look to create our own exciting future together."
The deal was completed at Adidas' global headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and was part of a club delegation visit, as captured on Amazon Prime. A vital element of this new agreement will see Newcastle United rebuilding its own retail operations both in-store and online, locally and globally.
Adidas have a great standing with club supporters and is generally more fitting for the new ambition of Newcastle, which cannot be said for Castore.
Adidas and Newcastle United already want fans to register for the latest news on the club's 24-25 kit launch - 10 months ahead of the official reveal, which will likely take place on 1 June 2024.
