England Women Debut 2023 Women's World Cup Away Kit - 1/3 Players Names are Missing

England women’s national team debuted their new Nike away jersey made for the upcoming 2023 World Cup during their latest friendly against Australia this midweek. However, there’s another special thing on that new jersey as one in three players’ names were missing from the kit but that’s due to awareness against Alzheimer's instead of a technical problem.

England Women's Debut New World 2023 Awat Kit With 1/3 Players' Names Missing

The Lionesses are gearing up for the 2023 Women’s World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July until 23 August. One of England’s preparation for that tournament were the launching of their new home and away jerseys from Nike on April 3 and after debuting the home kit last weekend, this time it’s the away shirt’s turn.

Sarina Wiegman’s side wore their new home kit in their finalissima victory over Brazil, while their away jersey was used during this midweek’s friendly over the World Cup’s co-host, Australia. Aside from the cool blue-artsy look, one thing that attract football attention from the Lionesses’ were the absence of some players' name on that jersey.

As it was revealed by the England women’s national team's official social media account, the absence of Lucy Bronze (number 2), Keira Walsh (4), and Chloe Kelly (7) names on their jerseys was on purpose, The Lionesses are campaigning awareness over dementia reminding everyone that one in three of people born in the UK are in danger of getting dementia.

Australia also Join England's Awareness Campaign for Alzheimer

The special cause campaign was not just done by the England women’s team though as their opponent, Australia also did the same thing. The Matildas’ players whose names are missing from the back of their shirts are Tameka Yallop (number 13), 19. Katrina Gorry (19) and Charlotte Grant (22).

Slightly different from England, Australia women’s national team also debuted their new Nike kit on that midweek friendly but they were introducing their latest home shirt instead of the away one. The Matildas have already worn their new away kit during their previous international friendly encounter against Scotland.

In terms of luck, England didn’t seem to have the best of luck with their new away kit debut as they were beaten by Australia 2-0 in that friendly fixture. That defeat also marked the Lionesses’ first defeat out of their last 30 official matches.
