The Hammers seem keen on showing their love and respect to all the women who have been an important part of their lives with something slightly special. Since they didn’t have a game on March 8, the players decided to celebrate international women’s day in the training ground instead.

Michail Antonio Pays Tribute to Women Tennis Legend Serena Williams

West Ham players decided to hold a training session on Wednesday wearing special training gear with the names of women who are important to them. Most of the players understandably give a tribute to their mothers and wives or partners, but one that stands out would be Michail Antonio who opted to have Tennis legend, Serena Williams' name instead.

The training kit that the Hammers players wore was just their normal training drill top which is available on the club’s official online store, with the addition of special names on the back. The training shirt is in light blue color with the retro Umbro logo and crest in clarets. There’s also an additional high funnel neck with stretch long sleeves designed for the current version of the training jersey.

West Ham are not the only Premier League sides that celebrate international women’s day with a jersey-related event as Manchester City even went further by releasing a special kit for it. That one-off jersey was worn by Man City women's team in their FA Super League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on March 5, while the men’s squad wore it as a pre-match outfit for their Premier League tie against Newcastle the day before.
