Update: Footy Headlines can confirm that Leipzig will leave Nike for Puma. We expect the deal to be officially announced very soon - Red Bull's Austrian club, Red Bull Salzburg, has already made its deal with Puma official.
Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig will reportedly have Puma as their new kit manufacturer, replacing Nike, starting next year.
Valid From 24-25 Season: Puma Deal Financially Better Than Nike for RB Leipzig
According to reports from Germany, Leipzig have reached an agreement with Puma to sign a 10-year deal once their current deal with Nike expires in 2024.
The new agreement will be financially better for the Bundesliga side as they should earn up to €150m during the span of their contract.
That new deal is undoubtedly an upgrade from their previous contract with Nike which only earn them €60m also for 10 years.
Leipzig signed with Nike back in 2014 and that deal apparently won't be renewed as they are reaching the final year of their contract. The Red Bulls opt to sign with Puma instead and follow the footstep of other top teams such as Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Manchester City.
Ex-Leipzig Sporting Director Minztall Plays a Part in the Future Puma Deal?
The Bundesliga's upcoming deal with Puma might not be a surprise considering their former Sporting Director Oliver Mintzlaff have a connection with the sportswear company. Mintzlaff used to work for the German-based company from 2000 to 2008 and still maintains a good relationship to this date.
Mintzlaff currently has a bigger role as he has been appointed as one of the CEO's of Red Bull group, Leipzig's parent company.
The CEO's presence potentially plays a part in Leipzig's decision to collaborate with Puma for the next 10 years.
Leipzig will certainly hope their upcoming deal with Puma can give them more sporting joy. During their time with Nike, until this season they only managed to win one major trophy, the DFB Pokal in the 2021-22 season.
