Insane 48 Hours: Atletico Could Return to Old Crest
Update: Atlético is currently on a whirlwind: the club could reverse to the old version of their crest in just two days time.
The Atlético de Madrid Social Commission has decided to call a referendum among the club's members to see if they want to return to the previous version of the team's badge, a modification that caused disgust and anger by the supporters.
Now, Atleti has announced that there will be a referendum on June 24 and 25. This is the official statement:
"The Social Commission, meeting at the Cívitas Metropolitano on Thursday, June 22, asked the club to carry out an immediate consultation among our members on the advisability of returning to the previous emblem, which the club has promised to carry out this weekend."
The club adds:"We must rigorously assess the situation and assess how many fans consider it appropriate. If this is the case, you can manifest it through an online query, which will be active without interruption, from Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m., and in which members who were registered before 1:00 p.m. may participate."
If, on the contrary, the fans are satisfied with the current situation or consider that it is not relevant or convenient to propose a new shield change at this time, they do not need to do anything.

Atlético Madrid to Revert to Old Crest?
Atlético Madrid could be about to ditch their current crest in favour of the previous version. According to Spanish journalist @JaviGomezCh, club president Gil Marín will meet with the "Comisión Social" tomorrow to discuss the matter. The "Comisión Social" is made up of ten representatives from various Atlético supporters clubs who act as the fans' voice in official club business, meeting periodically with board members to have their say on aspects related to the identity and history of the club.
Many fans were unhappy with the new badge when it was introduced in 2017, as well as the lack of fan consultation on the matter. Almost six years later, there is still tension between some supporters and the club over the move, hence tomorrow's meeting.
