Kappa to Release Classic AC Milan and Juventus Remake Shirts
Kappa are to remake the late 80s home shirts of AC Milan and Juventus, whose kits they produced at the time.
Kappa to Remake Classic Juventus and Milan Shirts
After the news that Patrick are relaunching an unofficial Roma remake, we can reveal that Kappa have got similar plans for a couple of classics from their own archive. AC Milan and Juventus both bore the Omini logo on their kits in the 80s and 90s, and Kappa are bringing back a couple of their iconic home shirts.
Juventus' jersey from 1989-1992 and the design Milan used from 1987-1990 are the ones that will be getting the remake treatment. Across those periods, Milan boasted the Dutch contingent of Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rjikaard, as well as Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini and Carlo Ancelotti. Juve had Roberto Baggio, Toto Schillaci, Paolo Di Canio and Antonio Conte among their ranks.
Both clubs are currently under contract with Puma and Adidas respectively, so obviously Kappa will not be able to use the club badges on the remakes, nor the era appropriate sponsors. Interestingly, the clubs themselves didn't actually have their crests on their shirts during that period, but wore stars instead, with each star representing 10 Serie A titles. The signature stripes will of course be present, faithfully recreated as they were on the original design with shimmering diamond shapes all across the fabric.
The polo collar and v neck combo will be used and the Kappa logo will be green on the Juve shirt, and white for Milan. The number 10 will be printed on the back in the boxy typeface that was used in that particular era.
