Argentina World Cup Squad Numbers Announced
We don't need to tell you who will be wearing the number 10 for Argentina at this year's tournament, but a couple of the other numbers are a little unexpected. Man City's summer recruit has been given the number 9 ahead of the more senior and experienced Paolo Dybala, who likely doesn't mind too much as he has his preferred number 21 shirt that he also wears for Roma.
Sevilla left-back Marcos Acuna will wear the number 8 jersey, uncommon for players of his position but he has made it his own in his time with the Albiceleste. Angel Di Maria gets his usual number 11, Rodrigo de Paul takes 7 and Brighton's Alexis MacAllister has been named as the squad's number 20.
Three players' shirts will bear the name Martinez at the tournament, and their numbers are quite close together, coincidentally, 22 for Lautaro, 23 for Aston Villa keeper Emi, and 25 for Man United's new centre-back, Lisandro. The full list is below.
