Kit Clash? Celtic Have No Fitting Shirt for Dark and Light Striped Opposition

Last week in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic had a slightly unusual kit choice in their 2-0 away loss against St. Mirren. This resulted in bad distinguishability between the two sides.

Celtic Lack Contrasting Kit

St. Mirren traditionally play their home games in black and white striped kits with black shorts and socks.

Oddly enough, this puts Celtic in quite a predicament in terms of kit choice. Their home shirt was ruled out as the fair amount of white hoops clash with St. Mirren's white stripes.

Celtic's striped black away kit is by far the worst choice, as it shares a similar look to St. Mirren's shirt.

This leaves only Celtic's 22-23 third kit, which has a grey base, black shorts and grey socks. This option is not quite satisfying either, as the shorts clash. Not only that, but the jerseys also do not provide optimal contrast.

We think Celtic's regular home outfit would have been the best of the three options, as it would result in a mainly white side against a predominantly black one, regardless of stripes or hoops.

For comparison, both St. Mirren and Celtic wore their away shirts in last season's St. Mirren home match. The year before, Celtic had a light green option that sufficed.
