West Ham Spell Gianluca Scamacca's Name Wrong in Welcome Video
West Ham yesterday announced the signing of striker Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo. For the occasion, they created a retro-tinged welcome video but managed to spell the Italian's name wrong.
West Ham Spell Scamacca's Name Wrong
Scamacca had been closely linked with PSG so it was quite the coup for West Ham to beat them to his signature. As is now typical for big signings, the Hammers social media team were put to work to create a video announcing the arrival of their new striker. They went for a Scamacca-themed reworking of the opening credits of Channel 4's iconic Football Italia show, with his name plastered across the screen, but with one crucial error.
Instead of a double c at the end, they put a double m in the middle, resulting in the misspelt "Scammaca". This spelling of the name also results in a different pronunciation when read by Italian speakers. The initial video was quickly taken down when the mistake was pointed out and replaced a short time later with a corrected version, as seen below.

The person at fault surely ended up in some hot water, but at least the kitman managed to avoid repeating the blunder when printing the new number 7's shirt. Not an ideal start to his career with in East London, let's hope his on-pitch performances won't continue in the same vein.
