20 Year Old Nike Total 90s Worn in Mexican League by Boot Aficionado Omar Mendoza

Liga MX brought us some great retro boot scenes over the weekend, as Mexican rightback Omar Mendoza of Queretaro laced up in a pair of Nike Air Zoom Total 90 IIs, as pointed out in Soccerbible's bootspotting.

Mexican Defender Shows Off his Boot Collection on Pitch

Mendoza wore one of the original colourways of the boot, a navy and silver pair which were originally released 20 years ago just before the 2002 World Cup, when the likes of Luis Figo, Francesco Totti, Roberto Carlos, Paul Scholes and Paolo Maldini were the faces of the boot.

Known for its off-centre lacing and two tone design, the Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II is an iconic boot associated with a great generation of players and came in a variety of colourways. After doing some digging, we found that this wasn't the first time Mendoza had opted for this classic model. He also laced up in the white and blue version back in September of last year.

The Mexican defender has something of an affinity for retro Nike boots as it turns out, having also worn a pair of Total 90 IIIs from 2004, as well as the R9 tribute version of the Nike Vapor 360 Elite, based on Ronaldo’s famous 1998 boots.
