Nike Recreate Iconic Edgar Davids Ad to Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Partnership
Since 1996, the Dutch national football teams have been sponsored by Nike. Now the Swoosh and Netherlands are celebrating their 25-year partnership with an impressive advert.
Inspired By EURO 2000 - Nike Netherlands 2021 Van Dijk & Lieke Marten Ad
The KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) and Nike have adorned an office building in Rotterdam with the imposing image of Van Dijk and Dutch women’s star Lieke Marten.
The graphic is inspired by the iconic ad of Edgar Davids of the Euro 2000.
Nike & Netherlands have a deal until 2026
“I haven’t seen it in real life yet, but of course I’ve seen photos and videos: amazing,” Van Dijk told the KNVB. “I’m familiar with that famous photo of Edgar Davids from years ago, and now it is myself together with Lieke Martens who’ve been portraited."
The campaign comes with the slogan '25 years. Thank you'. The Netherlands will wear the text on the anthem jackets when the Netherlands face Montenegro on Saturday.
Nike will make the kits of Netherlands until at least 2026 as part of their extended agreement from 2014.
