EA Strike Back - FIFA 22 to Feature 14 Exclusive Serie A Teams
Earlier today it was announced that EA Sport's upcoming FIFA 22 will feature a total of 16 licensed Serie A teams, 14 of which will be exclusive to the game.
The only teams missing out from Italian top-flight are Juventus, Roma, which were already not included in 21 as well as Atalanta and Napoli, which are new PES / eFootball exclusives for 2022. Konami meanwhile, who famously got the aforementioned exclusive licenses, will have to do with 14 unlicensed teams in Serie A, 12 more than last year.
This is due to a new exclusive agreement that EA have closed with the league. The new deal basically ensures that all teams that don't have an exclusive deal with another company will be exclusive to EA Sports FIFA. The license also includes exclusive rights to the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italia. There will also be a new Serie A Player of the Month award, presented by EA Sports.

The remaining teams will be known as Piemonte Calcio (Juventus), Roma FC (AS Roma), Bergamo Calcio (Atalanta) and Latium (Lazio). While those teams will have fake logos and kits, all of their players will remain licensed as was the case with FIFA 21.
The same will be the case with eFootball's 14 unlicensed Serie A teams - just like it was with Inter and AC Milan last year.
"EA SPORTS and Lega Serie A are entering into a multi-year agreement which allows for Serie A clubs to be authentically represented in-game, providing that the rights of those clubs are available and not currently contractually held exclusively by another party," EA said. "EA SPORTS is respectful of pre-existing relationships that certain clubs have with third parties, but is equally committed to further growing its presence in Italian football both now and in the future."
