Chelsea 2021-22 Squad Numbers Announced - Kovacic Switches to 8, Lukaku's Number TBA

Chelsea just announced the squad numbers for the 2021-22 campaign which means that we get a better idea of their plans. Romelu Lukaku's shirt number was not revealed yet.

There is a lot of movement in Chelsea's squad. First off, midfielder Mateo Kovačić switches from No. 17 to 8, the same number he wears for Croatia.

Secondly, youth players Trevoh Chalobah (DMF), Tino Anjorin (OMF) and Lucas Bergström (GK) also made the cut. Check out the full squad list underneath.

However, Chelsea did not announce what shirt number Romelu Lukaku will have after Frank Khalid previously stated he would wear No. 18.

Additionally, Tammy Abraham was already linked to other clubs during this transfer window adding further uncertainty. We will have to wait and see what shirt number Romelu Lukaku really gets.

There are also a lot of players that were left out of the announcement, specifically Abdul Rahman Baba, Matt Miazga, Charly Musonda Jr., Danny Drinkwater, Davide Zappacosta, Kenedy, Malang Sarr, Lewis Baker, Michy Batshuayi, Ross Barkley and Timoué Bakayoko. 8 of them were part of Chelsea's loan army last season.
