All Ligue 1 Teams To Wear Rainbow Numbers

The Professional Football League (LFP) will carry out several actions against homophobia this weekend on the occasion of the 37th and 38th days of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
The "Gay or straight, we all wear the same jersey” campaign was launched by the French LFP yesterday, ahead of World Homophobia Day on May 18, 2021.

The short film for the campaign was produced by Fabien Onteniente, known for his popular hits “3 Zéros”, “Camping” or “Disco”. The film highlights offensive and insulting comments that may be made by spectators during a football match.

Next weekend, all Ligue 1 & Ligue 2 players will wear rainbow-colored numbers on the back of their jerseys as "a symbol of peace, diversity and above all a symbol par excellence of the LGBT movement”.

“Words have a meaning, let us never forget it! Let us put homophobia out of play”, launches the slogan. The message “Gay or straight, we all wear the same jersey!” is also taken up by 32 professional players.
Other actions will then be put in place. Before the kick-off of each match, the players and referees will meet behind the banner “Gay or straight, we all wear the same jersey!”.
The jerseys will then be auctioned “for the benefit of associations fighting against homophobia, partners of the LFP, Foot Ensemble, PanamBoyz & Girlz United and SOS Homophobia, on the international MatchWornShirt platform,” the League’s statement said.
Referees and match delegates will also wear a rainbow armband, which will also be offered to coaches and TV journalists.

The shirt pays tribute to the local region by subtly embedding the names of all 362 municipalities in the province of Salamanca into the fabric graphic, while sleeve cuffs carry lyrics dedicated to the club's loyal travelling fanbase.

The Hummel Valenciennes 26-27 third jersey features a deep blue base highlighted by subtle vertical bands incorporating intricate floral lace graphics.
