Besiktas Scrap Plans of Wearing Signed Shirts vs Galatasaray to Avoid "Snow Clash"

Having initially planned to wear a special kit featuring the signatures of club supporters, Besiktas today released a statement saying that they would finally switch from the white home kit to the striped kit.

This decision was taken in order to avoid a clash with the possibly snowy pitch in Istanbul. In case you missed it, yesterday's Süper Lig clash between Istanbul Basaksehir and Sivasspor saw the visitors "disappear" in the snow.

It's especially annoying for the club since it was long planned to wear a set of one-off kits decorated with the signatures of club supporters, a move that was announced back in August and is part of the "Bırakmam Seni" (I Will Not Leave You) campaign.

"At the coordination meeting held at Vodafone Park this morning for the Galatasaray match, it was decided that our Football Team would take part in the field with the barred shirt instead of the white shirt, which has the risk of impeding the view, considering the snowfall." - Club statement

Besiktas added in their official announcement that they will announce their decision about which match to wear the kits in the coming days.

Several Turkish kit accounts voiced their unhappiness over the decision, stating that it would have been fine to just pair the white shirt with black shorts. It also remains to be seen whether the pitch will actually be covered in snow when the Derby kicks off at 7PM local time.
