Adidas To Snap Nike Players To Push Adidas Copa Boot Silo
Adidas is set to sign a bulk of players for 2021 to push the Adidas Copa silo and the launch of the next-generation Adidas Copa Sense, images from recent training and matches suggest.
The most popular players who are officially under contract with Adidas and currently wear the Adidas Copa football boot are Paulo Dybala, Joao Felix and Pedri* (laceless version) / *Donny van de Beek, David de Gea and Manuel Neuer (laces version).
Thiago, Sergio Ramos and Iago Aspas Spotted With Adidas Copa 20.1 Football Boots
Sergio Ramos and Thiago Alcantara were spotted with the Adidas Copa 20.1 already some time ago, while Iago Aspas just switched to them last week (from Nike Phantom GT).
All of the three new Copa athletes previously wore Nike soccer cleats for several years
Nike Players Switch to Adidas Copa Boots 2020-21
- Iago Aspas: Nike Phantom GT -> Adidas Copa 20.1 Blackout / Orange
- Sergio Ramos: Nike Tiempo Legend VII -> Adidas Copa 20.1 Blackout / Orange with custom sole plate
- Thiago: Nike Phantom VNM -> Adidas Copa 20.1
Adidas' strategy makes much sense
In fact, Adidas' move makes sense. While the laceless Copa are worn by some of the most marketable players on the planet (Paulo Dybala, Joao Felix and Pedri), the laces variant just got the on-pitch support of star goalkeepers (Neuer and De Gea) but not star players.
Watch out for the boots of Thiago Alcantara, Sergio Ramos, Iago Aspas and possible other new Copa ambassadors in the coming weeks.
The next-generation Adidas Copa Sense football boots will be launched in February 2021.
