No More Adidas After 20+ Years: Rapid Wien to Sign Puma Kit Deal - Another 11teamsports Sponsorship

Austrian club Rapid Wien is set to join forces with Puma from next season, replacing long-term kit supplier Adidas after 22 years.

According to a SPOX report, the deal will be managed by 11teamsports, similar to the recently announced Adidas partnerships with Düsseldorf and Nürnberg in Germany's second tier.

Economy Managing Director Christoph Peschek stated the following: "We have an existing contract with Adidas that runs until summer 2021. We can confirm that the long-term partnership will not be continued beyond this and will be terminated by mutual agreement. We thank Adidas for the successful cooperation."

Interestingly, just a couple of weeks ago, Rapid and Adidas already agreed to discontinue their exclusive boot deal, which forced the club's players to wear Adidas boots irrespective of their personal sponsorships.

Talking to sportsbusiness.at, Christoph Peschek had the following to say: "We can confirm that the exclusivity of the shoe equipment between Adidas and SK Rapid was mutually terminated in a partnership agreement. The decision was made on the basis of strategic considerations to adapt it to current equipment models."

Three key players promptly switched to Puma: Captain Dejan Ljubici, Richard Strebinger and Kelvin Arase.
